Small businesses are often celebrated for their resilience and bringing something unique to Lancashire’s diverse economic landscape.
And for the Be Inspired Business Awards it is often the most sought-after and toughest category to call.
This category celebrates the innovation, resilience, and growth of Lancashire’s small enterprises—the backbone of the local economy. From family-run shops to dynamic start-ups, the BIBAs recognise the outstanding contributions these businesses make to the region’s economic and social fabric.
Last year saw Holland Hall triumph in the category which included a shortlist of energy consultants, a wine supplier, media firms and small manufacturing organisations – really capturing the breadth of businesses within Lancashire.
Bevan Middleton, CEO of Holland Hall, said: “This was our first time entering the BIBA’s so expectations weren’t that high, we know we have a superb business and we obviously really wanted to win, but it meant so much to us all with such stiff opposition and such a rigorous process we were quite taken aback and it took a week or so for it to sink in.”
Sponsors of the Small Business of the Year award, CKS Catering, says the diverseness of the category is what makes it so exciting.
Dawn Cheetham, director of CKS, added: “We are delighted to continue sponsoring the Small Business of the Year category at the BIBAs. Small and medium-sized enterprises are the lifeblood of Lancashire’s economy, driving innovation, creating jobs, and fostering community spirit.
“Recognising their achievements through the BIBAs is essential, and we are proud to be part of that celebration.”
Winning or even being shortlisted for a BIBA can be a transformative moment for small businesses, providing them with invaluable publicity, networking opportunities, and industry recognition.
Previous winners have reported increased visibility, stronger customer trust, and new business opportunities following their success at the awards.
Businesses interested in entering the Small Business of the Year category are encouraged to submit applications that highlight their growth, innovation, and contributions to the local economy.
Entries are open until 31st March, and shortlisted candidates will progress to the interview stages, culminating in the prestigious awards ceremony at Blackpool Tower Ballroom on 19th September.
Applications are already flooding in, so now is the time to make sure your business is in the running. Don’t miss the chance to be part of Lancashire’s most prestigious business awards.
