This week, we turn our spotlight on BAE Systems and Two Zero Lancashire.
BAE Systems needs no introduction.
With sites at Warton, where it continues its involvement with the Typhoon, Hawk and new F-35 Lightning II and has a number of new future projects in the pipeline such as The Tempest, and Samlesbury, where it currently employs around 3,000 people involved in fuselage and component manufacture, BAE Systems is a major Lancashire employer and sits at the heart of the county’s aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors.
It also recently opened the £15.6 million ASK Centre (Academy for Skills and Knowledge) where over 200 apprentices and graduates are trained in advanced engineering and manufacturing technology including robotics and clean room composites, as well as 3D printing and enhanced technologies.
